PORTUGAL’S UK tourism chief Mario Ferreira has predicted a boom in visitor numbers after the country won the bid to host the 2004 European Football Championships.
“We forsee great benefits through the introduction of Portugal to a whole new audience and through development of new facilities,” he said.
Portugal beat off competition from Spain and a joint bid from Austria and Hungary for the right to host the 2004 football extravaganza.
