Tui spends $60 million launching brand in Russia and Ukraine

Tui Russia and CIS are spending $60 million as they launch the Tui brand in Russia and the Ukraine.

The money will be spent over the next three years in the areas of brand, e-commerce, management and technology on Tui Russia and CIS businesses – Mostravel, VKO Group and Voyage Kiev.

The move has come about as a result of a joint venture between Tui Travel and S-Group Capital Management. It will mean more than 200 agencies in Russia and the Ukraine will use the Tui brand and all will be connected to one call centre and supported online.

There will be 10 new-look brochures introduced with a choice of 20 destinations including Cyprus, which is new for the Russia market in 2010. A marketing and advertising campaign will be launched in March with the slogan ‘Anything for your smile.’

Tui Travel chief executive Peter Long said: “We are delighted to launch the Tui brand in Russia and the Ukraine. We welcome customers to try our new products, destinations and in-store experiences.

“We have products to suit all our customers’ needs from family holiday clubs in Spain, to cruising in the Caribbean, to expeditions in the North Pole.”

The news comes following a spate of acquisitions by Tui Travel in Russia and the Ukraine over the past year and has led to concerns that the increase of Russian tourists in European resorts may lead to cultural clashes with British holidaymakers.
