THE Spanish Tourist Office is to devote a large chunk of next year’s £2m UK national advertising campaign on promoting the destination to the growing independent traveller market.
The STO’s new UK and Ireland regional director Manuel Butler said the introduction of flights by low-cost carriers EasyJet and Go to destinations such as Malaga and Barcelona has created a new market to the destination.
Details of the campaign are still being finalised.
Butler stressed that package holidaymakers, which make up 50% of the 12m UKvisitors to Spain, will still be the most important market for thecountry.
