UNITED Airlines has agreed a wide-ranging alliance with Spain’s second biggest long-haul carrier Spanair.
The agreement starts at the end of the month to give United, and its Star Alliance partners, a potentially lucrative link into the airline’s South American network.
Initially the agreement covers codesharing on Spanair’s service from Washington to Madrid, Barcelona and Palma.
Airport services and frequent-flyer programmes are also covered by the new alliance.
