TIPTO gets on the road to raise profile

THE Truly Independent Professional Travel Organisation has embarked on a series of roadshows as founder operators start to drive sales through independent agents.

More than 130 agents attended the first event last Monday along with the 29 founder operators.

Chairman Warren Sandral said the organisation needs to start making TIPTO a success.

“The response from agents has been encouraging but TIPTO’s success depends on whether operators see a return on their investment. Agents will also want to generate more sales which will naturally result in more commission.”

Representatives have already started visiting agents and will provide back-up support as well as product training.

Agents welcomed TIPTO but stressed commercial deals need to be negotiated with operators. Brompton Travel owner Giuseppe Sazio said: “I am going to sell whoever gives me higher commission. There needs to be commercial incentives if this is to work.”

Meanwhile, four further roadshows will take place next week. On October 11 the event moves to Stoke-on-Trent before heading to Knutsford on October 12, Leeds on October 13 and Leicester on October 14.
