Four ex-Thomas Cook ‘top performers’ join Wendy Wu Tours

Wendy Wu Tours has recruited four former Thomas Cook employees in newly created sales roles to help the Asia specialist’s growth plans.

Caroline Rennie is now head of inside sales and specialist business while Sandra Foreman becomes key account manager for Hays.

Caroline Burroughs joins as trade support manager and Harry Ryan becomes a personal tailormade consultant.

They report to global sales director John Warr and will play “an integral part” in the operator’s new three-year trade focus initiative.

Rennie was a regional manager at Thomas Cook, where she worked for 23 years.

Foreman was also a manager, and held the title of company manager of the year at Thomas Cook.

Burroughs has 20 years of experience at Thomas Cook, where she was cluster manager for the top two stores in Essex, and Ryan was a top performing consultant in the southeast.

Warr said: “It’s been a challenging year for the industry and a very sad year indeed with the demise of Thomas Cook.

“Thomas Cook had an exceptionally dedicated and hardworking personnel and we are so pleased that we’re able to open our doors to four of its top performers.”

He added: “Caroline Rennie will work very closely with our call centre and trade support teams to enhance our delivery whilst seizing new opportunities and initiatives for growth, all the time ensuring our service remains the highest in the industry.

“Sandra will play a key role in focusing on driving sales through the Hays consortium. This appointment shows our commitment to the newly formed Hays group. Our team of five business development managers will work closely with Sandra.

“Strengthening and developing agency sales will be the focus for Caroline Burroughs whilst Harry is a welcome addition to our growing tailormade team.”

Rennie added: “Just as the customer was at the heart of everything we did at Thomas Cook, the same is true at Wendy Wu Tours and so it’s a dream role for me.”

Foreman commented: “With the company in growth it is an exciting time to be joining.”

Burroughs said she was looking forward to helping agents with Wendy Wu Tours, and Ryan said his appointment was “a dream come true”.
