Agents in the UK selling Marriott rooms will now receive a single global-commission payment instead of receiving a UKcommission separately. Previously, UK agents have received one cheque for non-UK commission and another for UK commission, but Marriott has now altered its centralised travel agency commission system to now incorporate UKhotels into the payment scheme.

Washington DC’s Marriott Wardman Park Hotel is undergoing a $100m refurbishment. The1,340-room hotel, the largest conventionproperty in the capital, is revamping all its hotel meeting and exhibition space, as well as guest rooms in the Wardman Tower section, the main lobby and front desk.

Construction has started on a 395-room Marriott hotel in Copenhagen, which is currently scheduled to open in 2001. Marriott is also constructing a 780-room hotel in Nagoya, Japan, which is due to open in 2000.
