n gb airways to boost alicante operations



GBAirways is launching twice-weekly Heathrow-Alicante flights on November 2. The Boeing 737 services will complement its existing five-times weekly Gatwick operation to the Spanish city.



n luton airport sees passenger figures soar



Luton Airport reported its busiest ever summer with 1,144,143 passengers in July and August, up 25% on the corresponding period last year. The airport has also announced the Queen will open its new £40m terminal on November 25.



n aeromexico joins new global alliance



Aeromexico has joined Air France and Delta Air Lines in their new global alliance (Travel Weekly August 9). The Mexican airline serves central and south American cites and key southern US destinations.



n schiphol airport opens new lounge



Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam has opened its new central lounge offering an additional 10,000sq metres of space, including new air-side shopping facilities. The next phase of redevelopment will see improvements to departure areas by August 2000.



n delta transfers contract to servisair



Delta Air Lines has transferred its multi-million dollar ground-handling contract at Dublin and Shannon Airports from Aer Lingus to Servisair. The UK firm has also won the contract to handle Malev Hungarian Airlinesthree-weekly Dublin flights to Budapest.
