Just Travel Cover confirms Covid-19 insurance

Insurance broker Just Travel Cover is the latest firm to confirm its policies include cover for coronavirus if contracted while on holiday.

It follows similar announcements by Staysure, Saga and Holiday Extras after concerns were raised that a lack of cover had been putting holidaymakers off booking overseas travel.

Emergency medical cover on Just Travel Cover’s travel insurance schemes vary and provide cover for up to £15 million. They would cover medical expenses is policy holders contracted coronavirus abroad, and repatriation so long as pre-existing medical conditions are declared and Foreign Office travel advisories are followed.

Managing director Andrew Jackson said: “While the terms of each insurer differ, we do provide policies that will provide cover for emergency medical expenses if you were to contract coronavirus on holiday – and for repatriation, which would be the cost of getting you home, for example if you missed your scheduled flight due to being in hospital.

“This would be providing any pre-existing medical conditions have been declared and the policyholder acts in accordance with the T&Cs of the policy and is not travelling to a country where the FCO has advised against travelling.”
