Tui Travel UK operators Thomson and First Choice have stepped in to offer alternative holidays to thousands of people affected by the collapse of Turkey specialist Holidays 4U.
Thomson and First Choice operate 73 flights a week to both Bodrum and Dalaman from 14 UK airports and feature 23 of the properties offered by Holidays 4U.
The operator failed with as many as 50,000 forward bookings and around 12,000 abroad.
“We have been briefing our agents up and down the country to ensure they can offer advice on how to claim a refund and how to go about booking a new holiday,” a Tui spokesman said.
“As future bookings have now been cancelled, customers who hold a booking with Holidays 4U who are yet to travel are advised to return to the travel agent with whom they booked.
“If they booked direct, we would advise them to visit any Thomson or First Choice shop where they will be able to get guidance and help with the CAA paperwork and help finding a suitable holiday once they are in a position to re-book.”
Details on how customers can make a claim and download a claim form can be found on www.atol.org.uk. The CAA has set up dedicated phone lines for those affected:
- Customers abroad: 00 44 161 444 5810
- Customers with forward bookings: 08444 933 037
