Jet2 adds Portugal capacity as demand soars

Additional flights and “thousands” of extra seats are being laid on by Jet2 to Faro due to demand as Portugal is removed from UK quarantine restrictions.

The extra capacity to Faro is be deployed from Birmingham, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, Stansted and Manchester airports.

The company previously confirmed multiple weekly services to the Algarve gateway and Madeira from all nine of its UK bases from Monday  (August 24).

The additional capacity comes on top of the original recommencement plans.

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays chief executive Steve Heapy said: “Customers are responding to the welcome change in government advice by booking their much-needed holidays in the Portuguese sunshine, and we are responding to that by adding more flights and seats.

“We want our customers to enjoy their well-deserved holidays, and our decision to act quickly and add even more capacity to Faro ensures they will have plenty of choice.”
