Jet2holidays has suspended its Algarve programme until September 27.
The UK’s second largest operator’s move comes in response to the introduction of quarantine restrictions on travellers returning from mainland Portugal to England yesterday.
All holidays departing up to and including 26 September 2020 will automatically be cancelled, and customers due a full refund.
Jet2 said it would contact all customers currently in the Algarve about their flights back to the UK.
In a communication to travel agents, the operator said: “Jet2holidays have taken the decision to suspend our flights and holidays programme to The Algarve (FAO) due to the continued Covid-19 Pandemic. Our package holidays to Madeira will continue as planned.”
The message added: “We still have plenty of holidays available to alternative destinations including Madeira, Kos, Rhodes, Corfu, Kefalonia, Cyprus and Turkey next week for your customers to rebook.”
