Latin Routes has encouraged more travel workers to nominate families and children to benefit from its Christmas Appeal after raising more than £3,200.
The Latin America specialist launched the appeal at the end of October to help families hit hard by redundancies or reduced hours in travel to buy Christmas presents for their children.
Supporters had the choice of buying a pre-selected gift for a child from the online gift list compiled by Latin Routes or donating money for the operator’s team to buy a gift.
All nominations remain confidential so people can recommend deserving families and children – including their own – without worrying about identifying individuals.
Jess Denison, Latin Routes director and head of trade relations, said the operator had already received more than 90 nominations, but thanks to the generosity of those in the industry more travel families could now be supported.
She said the appeal would “help to spread some Christmas joy”, with the Latin Routes office “due to become Santa’s Grotto” as the team and local industry volunteers processed the presents next week.
The closing date for nominations is Wednesday, December 9. To find out more and nominate, visit www.latinroutes.co.uk/Christmas-Appeal or email christmasappeal@latinroutes.co.uk.
