Iberia and Finnair join Oneworld

THE ONEWORLD airline alliance has increased its membership to seven carriers after signing up Iberia and Finnair.

The European airlines will start joint sales activities with founding members British Airways, American Airlines, Qantas, Cathay Pacific and Canadian Airlines. They will also co-operate with new partners on frequent-flyer schemes and airport lounge access.

The alliance is set to expand further, with Aer Lingus and LanChile joining early next year. Japan Airlines is also expected to join.

Meanwhile, Oneworld has launched its own booking facility on global reservation systems Amadeus, Galileo and Sabre called Alliance Availability Display. The display will enable agents to plan global itineraries on Oneworld carriers using the code OW. Worldspan will offer the service soon.
