SPOOKY opportunism is in evidence at the Clarion Hotel in Lancashire’s Ribble Valley.
General manager Mike Hill, obviously never one to miss a chance, is timing the launch of a sales campaign to coincide with the release of eagerly-awaited horror flick The Blair Witch Project.
For those of you who haven’t seen the scary trailers for TBWP, it’s about three students who disappear while hunting a witchÉ and obviously, it’s just the subject for a Choice Hotels sales drive.
Mike is using the hotel’s position near the home of the famous Pendle witches to persuade fans of the supernatural to try out the area.
Apparently, he gets quite a few already, but wants to use the new film to cast his spell a bit wider.
Says Mike: “Our new weekend package includes everything a would-be witch hunter might need.”
For a spellbinding £44.75 a night, this includes a guide to the route the witches took before being hanged in the 17th century and a copy of the highly popular Lancashire Witches newspaper.
Hotel guests should bring their own pointy hats, cauldron and black cats.
