LONG-HAUL specialist Travel 2 has taken the unusual step of allowing agents to decide their own commission levels on a range of special packages it has introduced to the Far East.
The operator has quoted net rates on the three New Year deals to Penang, Bali and Singapore, and left it up to each individual agent to decide how much to charge customers.
Although Travel 2 quotes net rates on flight-only deals, a spokesman said it was rare for the operator to leave agents to build in their own commission on package holidays.
It claimed the move would help agents compete more effectively with direct-sell operators who are very strong in the Far East.
The packages are valid for travel between January 16 and March 31 next year. They are seven nights in Penang, starting at £451 net, eight nights in Bali from £505 net, and five nights in Singapore from 480 net.
All packages include flights with Singapore Airlines from London or Manchester and room-only accommodation in three-star hotels. Taxes, passenger service charge and transfers are extra.
