Peter Fankhauser, Thomas Cook’s chief executive for the UK and continental Europe, will speak at this year’s ITT conference in Abu Dhabi.
The conference’s organisers said Fankhauser’s appearance at ITT will be the first time he has addressed the UK travel industry publicly following a period of consultation.
ITT chairman Steven Freudmann said: “Following the unveiling of Thomas Cook’s long-awaited plans for a turn-around in the business yesterday, we are delighted that Peter Fankhauser has agreed to speak at the ITT conference in June.
“The conference will present an ideal opportunity for the industry to hear at first-hand about Thomas Cook’s plans to build on its trusted brand and long heritage to deliver personalised holiday experiences through a high-tech, high-touch approach.
“I look forward to welcoming Peter to his first ITT conference and to introducing him to our members.”
Tasked with the transformation of the UK and Ireland business, Fankhauser became responsible for the UK division of Thomas Cook in November 2012 and he continues to be responsible for the Group’s continental divisions.
Reporting directly to the Thomas Cook Group’s chief executive Harriet Green, Fankhauser is also the chairman of the Thomas Cook AG board in Germany.
