Vueling to operate year-round from Cardiff

Vueling is to operate two Spanish routes year-round from Cardiff airport.

An extension of the budget carrier’s summer schedule will see flights to Alicante and Malaga operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays in the winter.

The move follows an expansion of summer services with flights to Alicante, Barcelona, Malaga and Palma to be available from the Welsh airport.

The flights to Barcelona will operate on Fridays and Sundays offering connections to cruises departing from the Spanish city.

The airline’s routes manager Javier Suarez said: “Vueling has been operating from Cardiff airport for two years and we strongly believe that the results are very good for both parts.”

Airport chief executive Jon Horne added: “We have been listening to what the people of Wales want and one clear message amongst others was year-round services.

“We have made this a priority as part of our discussions with existing and potential airlines to ensure this demand is met from Cardiff airport.

“I am delighted to say that working with Vueling we have been able to deliver more winter flights to two of the key destinations that have been requested. We continue to work with airlines to win more flights back to Cardiff, creating more choice for Welsh passengers from their airport.”
