KDRiver Cruises has been bought out by German company Viking River Cruises, which owns 17 ships. The acquisition brings the total number of ships in the combined fleet, which operates on European waterways, to 26.

Eurotunnel has called in global distribution system supplier Sabre to review the working of its call centre. Managing director Bill Dix refused to say whether the company planned to restructure the call centre or axe jobs.

Virgin Atlantic’s 49% sale to Singapore Airlines faces investigation from the competition wing of the European Commission. The EC wants interested parties to write in this week with comments about the £600m deal. Virgin is to send a statement to Brussels.

Amadeus has won the Bridge the World account from Galileo, which has supplied global distribution systems to the tour operator for 13 years. The partnership with Amadeus is due to start in May and run for five years. Meanwhile, Virgin Holidays has signed a deal with global distribution system supplier Worldspan.
n odysseus charter
Gibraltar-based Legend Cruise Company has chartered Odysseus from Royal Olympic Cruises and plans to rename it Joywave. The ship will operate three and four-day cruises in the Caribbean from October 2 this year. The itineraries will include calls to Santiago de Cuba, Cuba. Legend is featured with JMC and Cosmos Tropical and will be included in First Choice and Unijet brochures.
