A dedicated sales director for the UK, Ireland and France has been named by Germania as it aims to expand its international business.

Jerome Newton (pictured) joins the privately-owned Berlin-based carrier from charter broker Air Partner where he was UK inclusive tour manager.

He previously worked for Monarch and its subsidiary First Aviation.

Newton will be responsible for sales activities for Germania, including charter business from London, Manchester, Norwich and Toulouse.

He will also oversee scheduled services from London to Erfurt/Weimar and Pristina as well as sister carrier Gambia Bird’s services to Freetown in Sierra Leone and Banjul in Gambia.

Germania chief commercial officer Oliver Pawel said: “We are delighted that we have been able to recruit Jerome Newton, a true sales expert for the UK, Ireland and France.

“Newton is a seasoned airline professional who has been working in the industry for over 22 years.

“We are confident that his knowledge of the market and his expertise, particularly in co-operating with tour operators, will play a
considerable role in ensuring the successful expansion of our international business.”

Newton said: “By operating impeccably throughout 2013, Germania have proven themselves in the UK, Irish and French markets, to their tour operator partners and many broker firms, with their on-time performance percentage in the high 90s every month.

“This is a testament to the people they employ, and their aircraft procurement process.”
