Preston Holidays poised for relaunch under new owners

Preston Holidays is poised to relaunch in the near future after its assets were bought by direct sell tour operator 3X Travel.

The assets of the Preston Travel Group – which ceased trading in February this year – includes Preston Holidays, Jersey Travel Service, Guernsey Travel Service, One Step Holidays, Med Beach Holidays, Value Breaks, Longwood Holidays and Peltours.

A statement on 3X Travel’s website added: “We shall shortly be re-launching as Preston Holidays.”

Before its closure, Jersey specialist Preston Travel accounted for 8% of visitors to the island, according to the BBC.

Grant Miller, managing director of the company, said: “3X Travel will shortly re-brand as Preston Holidays and will focus 100% on the Channel Islands utilizing our market leading brands Preston Holidays, Jersey Travel Service, Guernsey Travel Service and One Step Holidays.

“Our other recently acquired brands Peltours, Longwood Holidays and Med Beach Holidays are under review and we are currently evaluating an number of licensing enquiries.”

Miller previously told the BBC back in March that he did not envisage facing the same financial problems as Preston Travel when the business reopened in a couple of months.

He said the brand would focus on the Channel Islands rather than attempting into other markets.

Preston Travel failed despite talks to sell part of the business. It had been an Abta member since 1966 and employed 30 staff in the UK and overseas.

In 2012, Preston Travel sold homeworking business Kwik Travel to Midcounties Co-operative Travel.

The company has no connection with Preston Travel Centre Limited, which is a separate Abta member.
