Manchester sets up duty-free hotline

MANCHESTER Airport has set up two telephone hotlines to inform passengers about their rights following the abolition of intra-European Union duty-free.

The airport, which is still selling tax-free goods, having absorbed the VAT, is also distributing leaflets to customers.

The numbers are 0161 4895059 for advice on which countries fall outside the EU and 0161 4892714 for information on duty and tax-free goods. Manchester points out that passengers which are connecting onto long-haul flights from a country in the EU – for example Manchester-Amsterdam-Johannesburg – can still buy tax and duty-free goods in the northwest airport.
