n hilton on course for 2000 opening



The new 200-room Tobago Hilton is on schedule for completion in early 2000 when it will become the island’s largest resort-style hotel. Facilities will include an 18-hole championship golf course, a marina, shopping arcade, wildlife refuge and meeting facilities.



n BWIA bans smoking across schedule



Trinidadian airline BWIA has adopted a no smoking policy with immediate effect on all its transatlantic flights to and from the Caribbean.



n mount irvine finishes refurbishment project



Tobago’s Mount Irvine Bay Hotel and Golf Club has completed its refurbishment programme. The project included an upgrade of its lobby area and all of its guest rooms.



n conference hotel opens in trinidad



A new conference hotel, the 68-room Cascadia Hotel and Conference Centre, has opened in St Ann’s, Trinidad. The hotel can cater for up to 1,000 people in its ballroom.



n chaguaramas hotel completes upgrade



To coincide with the recent hosting of the 1999 Miss Universe Pageant, the Chaguaramas Hotel and Convention Centre has been completely refurbished. The 72-room hotel’s convention centre can hold up to 2,000 people theatre-style and also boasts eight separate seminar rooms.
