Discounting frenzy is bad for morale

WHY and how is it possible that we have been giving such crazy discounts and when on earth is it going to end?

Having been in the industry for 15 years I feel that we should stop all this discounting and instead be paid a wage in line with those offering a professional service.

I speak as a manager of Going Places, one of the worst multiples. In January we found it more difficult than ever. When we thought we had closed the sale, the customer would say he could get a better price elsewhere, we would then match it and then another multiple would offer a higher discount. I am sick and tired of losing custom because we are told to push our own UKLGproducts. If we do not hit our shop targets on our own products, we are pushed to sell Airtours to improve our already pittance of a wage.

Why should I sell an Airtours product to a customer it is not suitable for?

We are no longer offering a service, we are robots doing what we are told to and selling what is best for our head office. This is not what I joined the industry for.

I shall be leaving Going Places and hope to work for an independent where I can sell whatever I like and what is right for my customer.

Going Places, it’s about time you stopped paying for laughable adverts and put your money where you mouth is.
