Turkish Airlines is raising capacity from Manchester airport to Istanbul next summer.

The carrier will be adding four flights a week from May 25 and a further three fights a week from June 22 to give three departures a day.

The additional service is scheduled to take off from Manchester at 11.45pm, designed to give connections to eastern Europe, the Middle East and domestic destinations within Turkey.

The airline’s general manager for Manchester, Ersen Engin, said: “Outside of London, Manchester is the biggest UK airport, serving almost 22 million passengers a year to reach more than 200 destinations worldwide.

“Over the summer months, these numbers are expected to soar as residents of Manchester and surrounding areas embark on their summer vacations.

“In 2014, we saw our passenger numbers increase by 18% from January to August, compared to the same period in 2013.

“As Istanbul is a hot destination for long weekend breaks and extended summer holidays, Turkish Airlines will be increasing its weekly flight services from Manchester to Istanbul.”
