n birmingham airport unveils new look



Birmingham International Airport has unveiled a fresh £60,000 corporate identity featuring a newly designed logo. Managing director Brian Summers said the airport had been open to adopting a new name but this had been rejected by its customers. “Time and again Birmingham International Airport was the preferred option,” said Summers. He said the tag ‘International’ was vital as Birmingham had to assure overseas visitors the airport was a major destination.



n hanworth travel ceases trading



Doncaster-based Hanworth Travel Centre and its branch office in Barnsley has ceased trading after being unable to meet its debts.



n easyjet gets gatwick slots for geneva flight



EasyJet is to launch its first flights from Gatwick this winter to increase competition with charter carriers and British Airways.



A daily service to Geneva will be targeted at skiers.



The low-cost airline said flights will leave at the end of the day to give potential customers from London the chance to get to flights after work. Prices have not been set. The airline also applied for slots at Heathrow and Stansted. None were available at Heathrow and the situation at Stansted is still under discussion.



n disney makes move towards hong kong



Hong Kong and Disney officials are extending negotiations regarding a theme park at Penny’s Bay on the southeast coast of Lantau island. Hong Kong officials expect theattraction would draw 20m visitors a year, about 1.5m of whom would come to Hong Kong just to visit the park.
