Yahoo boss given new role on Thomas Cook board

Yahoo’s European boss Dawn Airey has been appointed senior independent director on the board of Thomas Cook.

Airey, a former head of Channel Five, will succeed Carl Symon from October 1. She first joined the Cook board in April 2010.

Symon is retiring as a non-executive director at the end of Cook’s financial year on September 30.

Thomas Cook chairman Frank Meysman said: “I am delighted that Dawn Airey has agreed to become senior independent director as of 1 October and [CEO] Peter Fankhauser and I are very much looking forward to working with her.”

Airey has been Yahoo senior vice president for EMEA for almost two years and was previously managing director of global content for ITV.
