Personal Travel Consultants report 60% surge in January sales

Sales so far this month for Personal Travel Consultants in Partnership with Blue Bay Travel have risen by 60% to exceed £2.5 million over the same period in 2024.

The homeworking business also marked its biggest week of trading on record, with sales of £1 million between January 5-11.

Self-generated sales, from the PTCs’ own client base since January 1, have doubled year-on-year and account for about 64% of the total sales achieved.

The group’s top seller generated more than £300,000, with the following four top sellers billing over £100,000 each.

Departures for this summer account for half of the bookings taken so far in January but lates have also performed well with departures for the remaining winter season accounting for 25% of sales and bookings winter 2025-26 accounting for 20%.

Turkey has proved the most popular destination overall, followed by Spain, Maldives, Mexico, Mauritius, Trinidad and Tobago and UAE.

A “marked increase” in bookings was reported for special trips such as Japan tours, Thailand multi-centres, Grand Prix events and Lapland, which has received bookings for 78 passengers already.

The PTCs decided to shift their peaks training from pre-Christmas to January this year, in a move designed to better serve the needs of their self-employed agents, many of who opt to take time off in the quieter booking period of December to be with their families, and return post-Christmas refreshed.

The training session, which took place on January 3, included a review of 2024’s trading and provided top tips to maximise sales for the year ahead whilst also reviewing the team structure, values and vision.

Group manager Abbie Heaton said: “We’re trading exceptionally well and are poised for considered growth in our homeworker numbers based around quality, despite some clear cost challenges which are affecting the whole industry.

“On agent forums, we’ve already seen numerous requests from agents looking for a change this year.

“We’re confident that our compelling commission structure, which see agents receive 50% up front, combined with the wonderful support team we have in place that provides a real family feel and is enhanced by our new agent committee, will be very appealing to anyone considering a change. We’re excited for what 2025 holds.”
