Le Meridien set to raise profile with new spa

LE MERIDIEN in Limassol is looking to raise its profile in the conference and incentive market ahead of the opening of a new spa on May 1.

The new facility, which comprises an indoor and outdoor spa with mineral and salt pools and 18 treatment rooms, will make the five-star property the only spa hotel and resort on Cyprus.

The hotel is also adding 41 new royal spa rooms that overlook the spa, taking the number of rooms at the hotel to 321, and a new swimming pool for the garden suites. The total cost of the project is £7m. General manager John Wood said the management of the spa at the Forte Village in Sardinia, Thermae del Parco, will be running the Limassol spa for the first two years to train up local staff. He added that the spa will bring new business from people who would not have considered Cyprus before because it had no spa resort, as well as increasing conference and incentive bookings.

He said:”The conference and incentive market is always looking for something different and we have had a positive response in our research.”

The hotel is featured for the first time in spa specialist Thermalia’s programme and the spa is also offered this summer by Cyprus specialists such as Argo, Amathus, Libra and Cyplon.
