WE have been long suffering rail agents for many years, and have always tried hard to become familiar with all the various new fare types when introduced.
As a consequence, we always try our very best to offer our customers the best fares possible. This is not always an easy matter and is certainly time consuming.
How surprised we were to receive instructions from Virgin Trains not to offer their most advantageous fares, ie Virgin Value Returns to passengers who we know are only travelling one way, but who are prepared to nominate their outward travel time.
Surely it is the duty of travel agents to advise clients of the rail operator’s most advantageous fare, eg Manchester-Euston £20 Virgin Value Return against £40 single.
Do Virgin Trains not think that, with or without our help, the travelling public will search out the best way to use thesystem to their advantage, which will lead to them avoiding the appointed rail agency?
