AMADEUS’ new sales and marketing manager Steven Reynolds has announced plans to expand its business services division by attracting new customers and poaching clients from rival Galileo UK.
Reynolds said corporate travel currently accounts for 30% of Amadeus’ business, and the supplier currently has a 2% share of the business travel market.
He wants the figure to increase to 50% of Amadeus’ business and to achieve 10% of the overall market share in the next 12-18 months.
He said:”This is not going to be done overnight, because it is important to keep the level of service Amadeus has built up over a period of time. We are small compared to Galileo, but we are strong in terms oflooking after our customers.
“We have a good system and we will be inviting business travel agents to look at the system. We have already had a lot of interest from agents, a lot of whom are existing Galileo clients, and this is without us going out and banging the drum.”
Amadeus will set up its second and third UK sites in September. Business development manager Paul Thallon will head a new Glasgow office while Reynolds is currently recruiting for the head of a north of England office.
