Qatar Tourism Authority plans to enhance its Tawash online training programme for agents, following the launch of a new destination brand at World Travel Market.
Rashed Al Qurese, chief marketing and promotion officer for QTA, said the brand was a first for the Gulf destination, and would form the basis of ongoing promotional and training activity.
Speaking at WTM, he said: “We have had a brand as Qatar Tourism Authority, but this is about making a statement about Qatar as a destination.
“Our real job is now just starting, and we must ensure that the brand and our messaging is consistent throughout everything we do.”
He added: “The travel industry continues to be very important for us, and we will look to enhance our Tawash training programme to include the information and tone-of-voice which is central to the new brand.”
Qatar is currently featured by 45 UK tour operators, up from 19 two years ago. The QTA is hoping for a one or 2% increase from the 135,000 UK visitors who arrived in 2014.
