Flights and ferry services will be hit by a nationwide strike in Greece today (Thursday) including air traffic controllers.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) issued the alert in renewed travel advice.

“Trade unions have called a nationwide strike on 12 November affecting schools, public transport and hospitals across Greece,” the FCO said.

“All ferry ports will be closed and some flights within Greece will be affected.

“If you are planning to travel on 12 November, contact your airline, tour operator or ferry company for advice.”

EasyJet said: “We have been advised of planned industrial action by Greek air traffic controllers on Thursday.

“Like all airlines, our flights to and from Greek airports might be affected.

“We plan to operate our normal schedule, but expect delays to our flights throughout the day.”
