THOMSON Travel Group has postponed the launch of its new budget brand for summer 2000 and may not release the programme until the end of the year.
Thomson chief executive Paul Brett said on April 29, in his now-famous statement in response to Airtours’ bid for First Choice, that the brand would go on sale at the end of May. But the launch is not top priority because typically the low-cost market does not book before Christmas. Thomson deputy managing director Shaun Powell said:”We will release the programme when we are ready.”
