The level of response to your report about Longwood Holidays (Travel Weekly March 13) prompts me to shed a little light on our position on agent educationals.
We have never announced that we plan to discontinue agent educationals.
We have successfully organised a number of educationals each year and it is true that an improvement in product awareness and, ultimately bookings, can be achieved.
But it is also true that a sizeable number of participants do not obtain the benefit from educationals we would like and thus their bookings are low.
We will not abandon educationals but will look carefully at our approach to them.
We want agents to see our products – and remember them.
