FORMER GUILD CHAIRMAN DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS


Former Guild of Business Travel Agents chairman Major Jim Ellis has died aged 86 following several years of deteriorating health. Ellis, whose travel career spanned four decades, was Guild chairman in 1977 when he was managing director of London-based agency Convoys.


PORTMAN TRAVEL MAKES NEW FINANCE APPOINTMENT


Portman Travel has appointed Richard Allardice as financial controller at its finance department in Motherwell. He joins from Scottish Power where he was a financial accounting manager of the retail division. At Portman he replaces Duncan Boffey and will report directly to finance director David Canavan.


CANON COURT APARTMENT EXPANSION COSTS £1M


Canon Court Services Apartments in Edinburgh has increased the number of its apartments from 27 to 43 by building a new £1m block next to its existing building. The new accommodation comprises mainly two-bedroom apartments at four-star level. The company offers serviced accommodation starting at £25 per person per night.
