Snapping up some heady groovy tunes

A NUMBERof veteran Backchat readers entered our competition to identify the 30 travel industry personalities snapped on a day out in Surrey in 1978.

The clear winner was Roger Lambert, head of the Academy of Excellence at Carlson Worldchoice – although as one of the organisers of the trip, he did have a headstart on other entrants.

Roger managed to identify 22 out of the 30 people in the picture, including the guard and the train driver.

Notable names were Peter Dyer, formerly of Crystal Holidays, Nigel Jenkins of Unijet and Chris Kirker of KirkerHolidays.

“The event was a suppliers’ day out organised by Lunn Poly, with a trip on the Bluebell Railway followed by lunch at The Roebuck Hotel at Wych Cross in Sussex,” according to Roger.

Groovy. That pop-tastic CD of ’70s tunes is winging its way to you, Roger.
