Turkey seeks to calm fears

TOURoperators have met with the Turkish Tourist Office following threats against tourists by terrorist organisation PKK.

The tourist office’s UKand Ireland director Savas Kuce said he had reassured operators similar threats had been made each year for the past 15 years, but there had been no attacks.

“There has been more publicity this year because of the capture of PKKterrorist Abdullah Ocalan,”he said.

Kuce claimed there have been no cancellations to Turkey since the threat was made. “The season does not start until May and operators think things will have calmed down by then.”
