n Cayman department to take airline queries



The Cayman IslandsDepartment of Tourism will handle consumer and trade enquiries about CaymanAirways. The move follows the departure of theairline’s sales and interline executive Christine Harvey who has joined Air New Zealand. Any airlinebookings will have to be handled via the computer reservation system in Miami. The tourist office number is 0171-491 7771.



n UK tourist offices trial language line



A telephone serviceproviding instantinterpretation in 100languages is being trialled by a number of UK tourist offices. The 24hr Language Line introduces aninterpreter on thetelephone who mediates between the tourism employee and non-English speaking visitors. Theservice could be used to provide information onanything from hotelavailability to museum opening times.



n wttc holds annual meeting at ITB meeting



The World Travel and Tourism Council is holding its annual meeting in Berlin during the ITBtrade fair. WTTC chairman andAmerican Express chief executive officer Harvey Golub will be among the speakers at the meeting which will take place between March 7-9.



n caribbean office sets date for conference



The Caribbean Tourism Organisation will hold its third annual sustainable tourism developmentconference at the Torarica Hotel in Paramaribo,Suriname from April 9 to 13.
