The Travel Trade Association has been forced to cancel its second annual members’ conference after attracting only 70 delegates.
The 400-strong travel agents’ association had set a minimum target of 100 delegates for the event, which was to be held on March 11 in London.
TTA director of operations Todd Carpenter said the response was “especially sad” considering that the first conference last year had attracted 104 people.
“We’re polling members for the reasons,” he said.
“We have had a number of replies which said ‘we physically cannot take the time out’.”
Carpenter said next year’s conference would take place over a weekend and might be held in the Midlands.
