Somak launched its first-ever Far East brochure last month and increased its reservations team with the aim of going global by the end of the year.
Managing director Ash Sofat said: “It is in line with our objectives of becoming a worldwide operator. We want to launch a Caribbean brochure but we launched this one first due to interest in the Far East.
“We have a loyal customer base who want to travel every year and a survey showed they now want a broader product range.”
The brochure features Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Bali, Hong Kong and China with prices from ú399 for a five-night one-centre stay in Beijing, China, including flights.
The expansion prompted Somak to increase its reservations team from 16 to 25 and after a week of the Far East brochure launch, Somak had taken bookings for 320 heads, with the majority to Thailand.
Tailor-made packages are based on scheduled flights – mainly British Airways, Qantas and Thai Airways – and feature accommodation ranging from three to five-star.
