START-UP carrier Celtic Airways will launch regional UK flights to Ireland this summer.
The airline will fly from Teesside Airport and Sheffield City to Irish cities with two leased turboprops.
Commercial director Alan Painter refused to reveal start dates, frequencies or exact routes.
However, Painter did admit Cork will feature in his plans.
He said 50-seater Dash-8s, Fokker 50s and ATR-42s were all under consideration to operate the services.
“More details will be available in two weeks when plans are clearer,” said Painter.
He added Celtic’s flights will be operated in their own right and not part of a franchise arrangement with a larger, more established UKcarrier.
Sheffield flights will give the airport its second international service after Amsterdam. A Sabena service to Brussels is also expected for the summer.
