GOINGPlaces is holding an investigation into why documents with hundreds of customer names and addresses and holiday details ended up being blown about the streets outside its newly opened Bournemouth branch.
The forms were put in bin bags outside the shop last Thursday night but were found scattered around the streets the following morning because the bags had been split.
Local police fear the paperwork could get into the hands of criminals who could use the information to break into customers’ homes.
Sergeant Gary Steadman of Bournemouth police said:”I feel very sorry for Going Places but this kind of information should be shredded before it is thrown away.”
He said police were taking no action but had spoken to staff at the shop, which opened earlier this month.
A Going Places spokeswoman said it was sorry about the incident and would be looking into exactly what hadhappened.
