Group urges trade to voice APD fears

THE FAIR Passenger Duty Alliance is urging travel companies and organisations to write to chancellor Gordon Brown, voicing their concerns about Air Passenger Duty.

The call to the industry follows the lobby group’s decision to send its own open letter to the chancellor, asking him not to raise APD rates any further in the next budget and to consider reducing them on children’s fares (Travel Weekly January 27).

Current APD rates are £10 on domestic and European flights and £20 on flights outside the European Union.

The FPDA has drawn up a sample letter for those wishing to write to the Government about the issue. It can be obtained by calling 0171-931 7612.
