Short breaks added to fill gap in market
SHORT three and four-night breaks have been added to JMC’s summer programme in a bid to attract customers that have holiday time constraints. The initiative is aimed at people who lead stressful, pressurised lives and just want a quick getaway, according to sales and UKoperations director Denis Wormwell.
“We have found that people want more flexibility. They don’t want to be tied to a traditional seven night or 14-night holiday. They want to take more frequent but shorter breaks,” he explained.
“At present these people are being forced to turn to low-cost carriers and sort out their own accommodation. But we can put together a three-night, half-board package and take the stress out of it for them.”
The new short-break programme is being offered at selected properties in Majorca, Ibiza, Tenerife, Costa Blanca and Cyprus. The move follows the introduction of 10 and 11-night breaks as an alternative to traditional seven and 14-night holidays for summer 2000.
The range of destinations where these holidays are available has been increased from seven to nine for next year.
Destinations include Corfu, Rhodes, Majorca and Ibiza. Wormwell claimed 10 and 11-night holidays were selling well for summer 2000.
