MAG ‘guarantees’ job interviews for Doncaster Sheffield workers

Manchester Airports Group is offering Doncaster Sheffield airport (DSA) staff affected by the closure of the site a guaranteed job interview for any of its listed vacancies.

The group – which operates East Midlands, Stansted and Manchester airports – has invited staff to attend a jobs fair at The Chatsworth Arts Centre in Long Eaton on Tuesday, September 27, and another on October 4 at the Radisson Blu Hotel at Stansted.

“Following the sad news of the planned closure of Doncaster Sheffield airport, Manchester Airports Group, will offer all affected staff a guaranteed interview for vacancies across its three airports,” said a spokesperson.

“For anyone unable to attend the upcoming events, or for more information about available roles across the group, affected staff should visit MAG’s careers website.

DSA owners Peel Group today (September 26) announced the airport would close following a strategic review to try and find new owners to take over the site.

Peel also blamed “high fixed costs” linked to the running of a “safe, regulated airport” and said that a “break-even business plan” could not be identified.

The airport will start to wind down from October 31. DSA employs around 800 people.

Tui revealed that its last flight would depart from the airport on November 4.
