Malaysia Airlines has welcomed news that Malaysia’s health ministry will remove the remaining entry restrictions for fully vaccinated passengers from May 1.
Fully vaccinated travellers, alongside those under the age of 12, will be permitted to enter Malaysia without undergoing pre-arrival testing.
They will still be required to complete the pre-departure form and some entry restrictions will remain in place for unvaccinated or partially vaccinated visitors.
Malaysia Airlines is flying 11 times a week from Heathrow to Kuala Lumpur until June 29, and will return to its full double-daily service from June 30.
It said the removal of entry requirements for fully vaccinated travellers provides greater flexibility to visit or stop over in Malaysia.
Daniel Bainbridge, regional director for the UK and Europe, said: “Malaysia Airlines is the only airline offering direct flights from the UK to Malaysia and international arrivals have increased dramatically since the border officially opened on April 1.
“This further removal of entry requirements is an even clearer sign that Malaysia is fully open to the world, and Malaysia Airlines cannot wait to welcome more passengers onboard with our warm Malaysian hospitality.”
Malaysia Airlines ramped up its UK services in March after Malaysia announced the reopening of borders to international travellers from April 1, following a hiatus of two years amid the pandemic.
The flagship route from Heathrow is operated by Airbus A350-900 aircraft.
