To celebrate the relaunch, Play is offering a special rate until midnight on September 13 of £80 return flights to Iceland, departing Liverpool John Lennon, and onwards to US and Canada from £350 return.
Birgir Jónsson, chief executive, said: “In Iceland, we share Liverpool’s passion for music and football, which makes this seasonal route one of Play’s strongest with Icelanders visiting the UK, and our relaunch comes just in time for the restart of the Premier League season.
“This affordable route is also ideal for Liverpudlians heading stateside for Christmas or new year and wanting to turn a stopover into a bucket-list trip.
“Travellers can extend their layover for no extra cost and add on a day trip to see Iceland’s Geyser National Park, or swim in our warm lagoons.”
