Ryanair passenger numbers hit 16.8m in July

Ryanair flew almost one million more passengers in July than the  previous month.

Total carryings grew to 16.8 million against 15.9 million in June.

The total came a day after low fares rival Wizz Air reported 4.7 million passengers flown in July.

European budget airline giant Ryanair saw year-on-year traffic rise by 81% from 9.3 million passengers in July 2021.

The July performance compares with seven million monthly carryings in January as carryings were hit by Omircon variant travel restrictions.

While passenger numbers have recovered, the March figure of 11.2 million was constrained by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The July figure gave Ryanair a rolling annual total of 142 million passengers, up 225% from 40 million in the equivalent 12months to July 2021.

The load factor for July was up by 16 percentage points year-on-year to 96%.

Ryanair operated about 92,300 flights during the month.
