Scoot appoints UK and Ireland general sales agent

Singapore Airlines’ low-cost subsidiary, Scoot, has appointed Discover the World as its general sales agent for the UK and Ireland.

The carrier will start services between Gatwick and Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport from December 16, with one-way fares from £170.

The three-times-a-week service will operate in December, then resume in March 2022, initially twice a week then rising to three times a week.

Scoot said it sees the travel trade as “integral partners” to help develop its sales and marketing strategy.

Aiden Walsh, head of airline development at Discover the World, commented: “This new direct, low-cost award-winning service is going to be extremely popular for the UK and Irish markets and comes at a time when travel is opening again between Europe and Thailand.

“We are also excited with the connection opportunities from Bangkok and Singapore especially to Melbourne and Sydney which are also very popular destinations from the UK and Irish markets.”

Lee Yong Sin, Scoot sales vice-president, added: “We believe that there is much pent-up demand for travel, and we look forward to providing additional travel options amidst the expansion of our network to better connect our customers between Europe and Asia.”

Gordon Stalker, UK, Ireland and Benelux director, said: “Our team will be actively engaging with trade partners focused on setting up trade partners to sell the December seasonal flights and once the schedule flights start in March.”

The airline’s Boeing 787 Dreamliners will offer economy and ScootPlus cabins, and Scoot-in-Silence – Scoot’s quiet zone.
